Families and friends gathered in White Plains on Sunday for lessons in America's history and the important role that the Hudson Valley played in the American Revolution.
The event at Tibbits Park was another celebration of America's 250th anniversary.
From replicas of weapons used in America's fight for freedom from British rule, to costumes reflecting the clothing of the day, those who attended the event learned important lessons about the past.
"It was our birth of the United States, and it was people, just ordinary citizens like myself, I'm a civilian, fighting to overthrow the tyranny of King George III because we were being mistreated, taxation without representation," said historian Denis Jones.
Westchester County's connection to the nation's history is undeniable.
From the pivotal 1776 Battle of White Plains, to the designation of the Hudson River as the most important river in the revolution, the knowledge was shared in an interesting and entertaining way.
Jennifer Skrzypek, of White Plains, attended with her children.
"I think it's just so very important for them to really know where we came from as a country, because it's going to be in their hands in the future. So, just like having that context for like how do we get here and what do we want our country to be like. And not just be so focused on TikTok," she said.
