A 35-year-old Hillsborough woman is charged with murder in connection with the deaths of her children Tuesday, the Somerset County prosecutor said.
Priyatharsini Natarajan was taken into custody after police responded to a 911 call from her husband at their Shell Court home at about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.
"The caller advised that upon arriving home from work he subsequently found his two children unconscious and that his wife did something to them," the prosecutor's office said in a press release.
When police arrived at the home, they found male caller along with his wife, whom police identified as Priyatharsini Natarajan. The bodies of the two boys, ages 5 and 7, were found in a bedroom inside the residence. Officers along with EMS workers attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful. The identities of the children are being withheld by police, pending positive identification from the medical examiner. The Northern Regional Medical Examiner's Office is scheduled to conduct the exam and determine the cause and manner of death.
"The investigation has revealed that Natarajan caused the deaths of her two children on Tuesday, January 13, 2026," the release stated.
Natarajan was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. The incident remains under investigation.
