A Nassau County student-athlete is in the running for a national high school football award.

Hewlett High School senior, Dominick Lord, has been selected as a nominee for the 2026 USA Football Heart of a Giant Award.

Voting is already underway for the competition that’s being presented by the New York Giants and Hospital for Special Surgery.

“Dominick has demonstrated incredible courage, leadership, dedication and commitment on the field, in the classroom and throughout our community,” Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools said in their districtwide announcement.

Lord, the team Captain, is a 3-year varsity player, who is also All Conference in discus and has won an ice hockey championship with the Bulldogs.

Beyond the field, Lord also excels in the classroom, a member of the English, Science, Foreign Language, National Honor Society, and making high honor roll each quarter, according to his nomination biography.

At the end of six weeks, 11 finalists will receive a $1,000 equipment grant for their school's football program.

The grand prize winner will get an additional $9,000 for the school and will be honored at a future Giants game this season.
