Firefighters battled heavy smoke and flames as a fire quickly spread through a West Deptford home Monday. The fire started just after 4 p.m., according to the West Deptford Fire Department said in a social media post. Firefighters said it happened in the Meraven Farms section of the municipality. "Units arrived within minutes to find heavy fire conditions. Crews immediately went to work under intense and dangerous fire conditions to protect life and property," the fire department said on Facebook. Fire departments from surrounding towns also responded to the location to provide assistance, helping bring the fire under control quickly, according to officials. "Alongside our mutual aid partners, firefighters faced rapidly evolving fire conditions. Through aggressive fireground tactics, coordinated operations, and unwavering teamwork, crews brought the fire under control within 30 minutes," officials said. A team from the Red Cross responded to assist the family with temporary lodging, food, clothing, and other needs. The fire department said no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
