A late-night residential fire ripped through a three-story home in Brigantine over the weekend, displacing five residents, damaging multiple vehicles and leaving one civilian injured.
Brigantine Fire & EMS units rushed to the scene at 1306 East Beach Ave. on Sunday at about 11:40 p.m. When crews arrived, heavy flames were tearing through multiple floors of the single-family home.
All of the occupants were able to safely evacuate before firefighters arrived.
Because of the intense fire conditions, firefighters launched a defensive attack. A total of 21 firefighters battled the blaze, using multiple master streams and large-diameter hose lines to contain the fire and keep it from spreading to neighboring homes.
The response required significant resources, including help from the Atlantic City Fire Department.
Although the fire was contained, the home sustained extensive structural damage. Three vehicles parked on the property were also damaged.
Officials said five residents have been displaced. One civilian suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, but declined transport to a local hospital. No firefighters were injured.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, though officials said it is not considered suspicious at this time.
