The forecast remains quiet for the time being. Clouds will continue to scoot up the coast tonight into very early tomorrow morning. Onshore winds will keep temperatures on the cool side of seasonable.
Eventually, probably late tomorrow, those winds will help push the smoky haze from the Canadian wildfires away from New Jersey and our skies and atmosphere will have a chance to recover.
I'm expecting a bluer look overhead starting Friday and lasting through the weekend.
Temperatures will likely be slightly below average for Saturday, then start warming back up on Sunday and return to a more summery feel for the start of next week.
Daily highs will once again be hovering in the upper 80s to low 90s. Looking for rain or storms? Probably not for another week or so.
The Perseid Meteor Shower will peak next week on Aug. 12 or Aug. 13. The only issue I see is the fullness of the moon. It will be 86% visible and rising at 9:42 p.m. The best viewing times for shooting stars would be earlier at night, from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., while the moon is still relatively low on the horizon.
