Gunfire erupts in Wawa dispute, two men injured in Winslow Township
An argument in a Wawa turned violent Sunday night, culminating in a shooting that left two men wounded and one facing attempted murder charges.
According to the Camden County prosecutor and Winslow Township police, officers responded at approximately 9:07 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4, to the Wawa on the 400 block of Sicklerville Road following reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, police found 20-year-old Marcus L. Norman, of Sicklerville, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Cooper University Hospital for treatment.
Shortly afterward, police were notified that another 20-year-old man had walked into Jefferson Hospital in Washington Township with a gunshot wound.
Surveillance footage reviewed by detectives showed that Norman and the victim got into a dispute inside the store. The argument escalated into a physical fight after Norman threw the first punch, investigators said. During the scuffle, video showed Norman drawing a handgun and shooting the victim.
Police said Norman also sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his left hand during the incident. Authorities recovered a handgun at the scene.
Norman was taken into custody in Sicklerville by the Winslow Township Police Department.
He has been charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
