The New York State Department of Conservation says overnight firefighting efforts following a breach in the containment line in Warwick were successful.
It said in a statement Sunday morning that the breach did not reach the contingency line:
“Last night’s voluntary evacuation was successful and allowed emergency apparatus and firefighters to operate uninterrupted through the night. The voluntary evacuation remains in place at least until tomorrow to allow for continued firefighting efforts.”

News 12 reported that residents on Edgemere Avenue and Wah-ta-Wah Park were requested by officials to evacuate. Officials say residents north of 42 Edgemere may evacuate by their personal vehicles. Residents from 32 to 42 Edgemere were provided transportation out by a Warwick Dial-a-Bus.
The evacuation site is Greenwood Lake Middle School located at 1247 Lakes Rd. Pets are welcome at the shelter.
