Gov. Ned Lamont is proposing that veterans receive free service on public transit.
As part of his budget proposal, the plan would allow U.S. veterans to receive free passes on CT Transit, CTfastrak and more.
The proposal also includes that students in kindergarten through 12th grade would receive a discount and get half off their fares for CT transit buses.
"It'll be greatly appreciated if this could go through because veterans are in need in more ways than one, besides the transportation, but the transportation would be greatly appreciated because I know like for me, I take the bus four to five times a day, a week, this would greatly help me," says veteran John Roscoe.
The proposal is now being considered by the Legislature's Appropriations Committee.
