Gov. Kathy Hochul has launched a new series of meetings seeking input from workers whose jobs could be reshaped by artificial intelligence.
The focus of this week’s session was woman in administrative and clerical jobs, a sector where women make up 84% of New York’s workforce.
Molly Kinder, founder of the Breakwater Initiative, says clerical and customer service occupations are among those with the highest likelihood of AI replacement.
"National data already shows a lowering in employment,” she said. “What's really important to note is that these jobs are middle class jobs, and the women in them have fewer cushions if change comes.”
Two listening sessions have been held so far. Hochul says the aim is to ensure the AI boom doesn’t leave workers behind.
