A new round of grants will go toward helping small businesses thrive across the city.
Small Business Services says an additional $5.3 million in funding brings the total investments in business improvement districts and community-based development organizations to more than $40 million since January 2022.
SBS is also working to support small business improvement districts. It's an important bridge SBS says connects residents to what they want to see in their neighborhoods.
"Most of the employment comes from our amazing small businesses across the five boroughs, and these are just the types of grants that allow us to better serve small businesses, clean up commercial corridors, beautify different plazas across the city," said First Deputy Mayor Maria Torres-Springer.
Some new mural art is also part of the package, and artist Daniel Bonilla is behind the brush.
"When it does come out, I look forward to having a very bright and like that people come and see and take pictures in front of it," said Bonilla.
BID formation grant applications are available now through March 30. Merchant organizing grants are available through April 20.
