Glen Cove urges residents to take shorter showers, not water lawns amid water system repairs
The City of Glen Cove is asking residents to avoid watering their lawns, among other water conservation efforts, as city crews repair parts of the city’s water system.
Officials said on Monday that the system was damaged during last week’s storm. They say reducing water use will help ease demand and protect the water supply.
Residents are encouraged to limit outdoor water use, fix leaks, take shorter showers, avoid unnecessary water use and only run dishwashers and washing machines with full loads.
With Nassau County also under a New York State drought warning, the city said conservation efforts are especially critical as dry conditions and seasonal demand persist.
“Thank you for doing your part to help keep Glen Cove’s water system strong for everyone,” the mayor’s office wrote in a statement.
