King Kullen, a long-time Long Island grocery store chain, has been acquired by Giunta's Meat Farms.
The supermarket chain announced Saturday that it has completed its acquisition of King Kullen, including its 24 supermarkets as well as four Wild by Nature natural foods markets.
The companies issued the following joint statement:
“We are excited to officially bring together two family-owned Long Island supermarket companies with deep roots in the communities we serve. This marks an important new chapter for Giunta’s Meat Farms and King Kullen, building on King Kullen’s nearly century-long legacy and the strengths of both organizations. We look forward to using our greater buying power to lower prices while providing the quality and personal service customers have come to expect.”
A spokesperson for the supermarket said that decision will be made in the next few months to determine which stores will retain the King Kullen name and which will change to Giunta's Meat Farms.
