AAA reports that the average price of gas is on track to set a new September record, surpassing the previous monthly high of $3.83 per gallon, set in 2023.

The average price of gasoline in New Jersey on Friday was $4.39 per gallon – 10 cents less than the national average of $4.49 per gallon.

Diesel prices are also higher, sitting about three cents below the record high set Tuesday.

AAA says restricted oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz are contributing to the higher prices at the pump.
