A Garnerville man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the fatal 2024 shooting of a Rockland County man, according to the Rockland County District Attorney's Office.

Twenty-year-old Yandie Martinez entered the guilty plea Wednesday in connection with the July 2024 killing of 29-year-old Christian Alvarado.

Prosecutors said Alvarado was found inside his vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Surveillance footage showed Alvarado and Martinez had a disagreement. Investigators said the two had a previous dispute. After a brief struggle, Alvarado fled and was chased by Martinez.

Authorities said Alvarado got into his parked vehicle and was driving away when Martinez shot him.

Prosecutors said Martinez had earlier fled from a juvenile detention center. He was arrested in South Carolina about a month after the shooting.

Martinez is expected to be sentenced in December and receive a 20-year prison term.
