Funeral services were held Wednesday for a New Jersey state trooper who died during training.
The service for Marcellus Bethea took place at Mary Mother of the Church in Bordentown. Family, friends and fellow members of law enforcement all gathered to honor Bethea who was a state trooper for eight years.
"Marcellus was a remarkable person who touched the hearts of everyone he met. He had a magnetic personality that drew people in. His genuine kindness and compassion left a lasting impression on all of us who knew him,” said Bethea’s wife Katarzyna Bethea.
Bethea died earlier this month during a training exercise. He worked out of the Moorestown Station in Burlington County.
He was laid to rest at Holy Assumption Cemetery in Roebling.
Gov. Phil Murphy signed an executive order to fly flags at half-staff in Bethea’s honor.
He leaves behind his wife and daughter. He was 33 years old.
