Loved ones attended a funeral Friday for a decorated NYPD service member and National Guard major who died overseas in Kuwait.
Major Sorffly Davius, 46, passed on March 6 after suffering a medical episode. Officials say his death was not combat related.
Family, friends and local leaders gathered to pay their respects during the service. Those who spoke praised his impact both in uniform and at home.
“Wherever he went, bringing people together was the most important thing to him. He called to check up on everyone no matter when or where. My dad could literally make friends in two seconds,” said his daughter, Ayva Davius.
