A detached garage collapsed after becoming fully engulfed in flames Monday night in Peekskill.

The fire broke out shortly after 10 p.m. in the 500 block of Dyckman Street, according to the Peekskill Fire Department.

When firefighters arrived, they found the detached garage completely engulfed.

Officials said the fire was beginning to spread to a nearby garage and a vehicle.

Crews quickly worked to extinguish the flames and protect surrounding structures.

The original garage collapsed during the fire.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control in about 30 minutes.

Crews then spent several hours searching through the debris to ensure all hot spots were extinguished.

The fire was ruled accidental. No injuries were reported.
