Frenchtown has been named the best small arts and culture town in the country for 2026 by Travel + Leisure magazine.
The Hunterdon County borough received the recognition as part of the publication's annual "America's Best Small Towns" list. Travel + Leisure highlighted Frenchtown's arts scene, walkable downtown, independent businesses and location along the Delaware River.
Frenchtown Mayor Brad Myhre credited residents, artists, businesses, nonprofit organizations and volunteers with helping shape the community.
"What makes Frenchtown unique cannot be traced to any one business, organization, or attraction," Myhre said.
Travel + Leisure highlighted destinations including ArtYard and the Frenchtown Bookshop, along with the borough's galleries, shops and studios. It also pointed to biking and walking opportunities along the Delaware & Raritan Canal Towpath.
The publication also noted the inaugural Frenchtown Literary Festival and the annual Riverfest celebration among the borough's cultural offerings.
