Police were on scene for several hours Sunday morning investigating a two-vehicle crash that injured five people, including one with serious injuries.

Officers responded to the incident around 4 a.m. at the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike and Herman Boulevard in Franklin Square, according to Nassau County police.

Authorities say one vehicle was struck broadside by a Nissan, then continued into a nearby gas station, where it hit a gas pump.

All five individuals involved were transported to local hospitals.

The investigation remains ongoing.
