New candidate John Avlon has officially announced his bid for the Democratic primary in New York’s 1st Congressional District.

The former CNN anchor made his announcement on social media. In the video, he says he wants to flip the seat on the East End.

The Sag Harbor resident says as a member of Congress he would focus on strengthening Long Island's middle class, invest in local infrastructure and protect women's reproductive rights.
