Mary Moran, the first and last woman to serve as mayor of Bridgeport, died Wednesday at the age of 90.
Moran, a Republican, was elected in 1989, defeating incumbent Democrat Tom Bucci. She served one term.
Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim, in a statement, said Moran was "at the helm of the City of Bridgeport during a very dark financial time in our history."
"She always remained a vocal stalwart of support and pride for the Park City."
