A former employee of the Board of Elections and Bronx District leader has been sentenced to two years in jail for extortion and fraud.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says that Nicole Torres illegally demanded payments from Bronx residents in exchange for choosing them as poll workers. She also agreed to falsifying documents to make it appear like certain individuals had worked as poll workers when they did not.
Torres was a district leader for the 81st Assembly District in the Bronx from 2019 to 2024 and an employee of the BOE from 2016 to 2024.
