Party City announced on Friday all its stores will be closing.
The store's Fordham Road location is plagued with empty shelves and marked down prices.
Shoppers tell News 12 they are shocked and disappointed by the announcement.
"It's pretty sad, actually. Where are we supposed to go for last minute party supplies and school supplies?" asked Barbara Guzman, a Party City shopper.
CEO Barry Litwin told corporate employees Friday in a meeting viewed by CNN that Party City is “winding down” operations immediately, and that today will be their last day of employment.
The closure comes after stores have struggled for business since the pandemic, plus supply chain issues and inflation.
The company, best known for its Halloween costumes and festive decorations, has been in business for nearly 40 years.
