A longtime Flatbush resident is demanding cleaner streets and sidewalks.
Debra John says her neighborhood is plagued with garbage on the streets - and one building in particular, has weekly overflowing bins.
John says the overflowing trash, at 146 and 142 Erasmus St., a building across from her home, has been an ongoing concern for her.
"It's horrible living on this block. This block was never like this," said John.
She says she made numerous 311 complaints and calls for action over the years but has had no response. She's asking for the trash bins to be moved off the sidewalk and onto the building's property.
"I think if they relocate the bins from the sidewalk, all these things would not be happening with the trash on the sidewalk. I mean, come on. We got to do better. We can't just come and just walk out and just throw the trash anywhere. We need to do better," said John.
The Department of Sanitation says it has issued multiple summons this year to the building and will continue to monitor the area.
News 12 reached out to the building's management, but has not heard back yet.
