First responders & local leaders concerned over state efforts to fast track energy projects

First responders and local leaders gathered Tuesday in Island Park to voice concerns over a plan they say could fast track projects, like battery storage facilities in their communities.
The town supervisors of Hempstead, North Hempstead and Oyster Bay challenging New York State's RAPID Act, which speeds up the process of placing large-energy projects.
Local fire officials also voiced their concerns over what they say is necessary training and equipment to handle a fire emergency at a lithium ion battery facility.
