A Bass Pro Shops location is in the works for Hicksville, potentially bringing the great outdoors retail giant to Long Island for the first time.

Plans call for the store to take over the former Sears Auto Center site on North Broadway, with a projected price tag of $65 million.

The project has received preliminary approval from the Nassau County Industrial Development Agency, but it still requires final sign-off before moving forward.

Right now, the closest Bass Pro Shops is in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
