A firefighter was injured battling a building fire in Long Beach on Sunday.

Flames broke out at 'Long Beach Sandwich Company' around noon, fire officials say.

There is an apartment above the deli on West Beech Street, but the fire was contained to the shop, according to the Nassau Fire Marshal’s Office.

The firefighter’s injuries were to his hand and he was treated at the scene.

Nobody else was hurt.

The sandwich shop will be closed for repairs.

The owners say they hope to re-open as soon as possible, but they have a lot of work ahead of them.
