A fire tore through a home in Midwood Sunday afternoon, leaving the structure heavily damaged and the community shaken.
FDNY says crews responded to the call at 1:16 p.m. Video captured by a nearby resident shows bright orange flames engulfing the home, with thick smoke pouring from the entrance as firefighters rushed inside.
Battalion Chief James Amsterdam says crews initially encountered a frozen hydrant, causing a brief delay before another engine relayed water to the scene.
