Emergency personnel and mutual aid units responded to a house fire on Brighton Avenue in Belleville on Wednesday evening.

Belleville fire units, police and EMS crews responded to the scene, along with mutual aid fire companies from surrounding communities, to battle the blaze and secure the neighborhood.

Local officials, including Mayor Frank Vélez, were at the scene as firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and manage the emergency response.

“Thank you to our firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel and all other departments from neighboring towns who responded ... for their swift response and dedication to keeping our community safe,” Vélez said in a statement. “The family affected is in our thoughts as they deal with this difficult time.”

The cause of the fire and extent of the damage to the home were not immediately released. It was not immediately clear whether anyone was injured.
