Heavy fire destroyed a West Milford home Monday, leaving two firefighters injured. The blaze broke out just before noon, as flames engulfed the Oak Ridge Road house. West Milford Fire Marshal Michael Moscatello told News 12 the fire was fully involved when crews arrived at the scene. According to Moscatello, firefighters located and removed two dogs from the home. Both were unharmed, he said. In addition, one firefighter was transported to a local hospital due to heat exhaustion. Another suffered minor burns to the ears and necks and was treated at the scene. As a result of the heavy flames, a neighboring home "suffered radiant heat damage." Mutual aid crews from nearby fire departments also responded to assist West Milford crews. No injuries were reported to the residents of the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
