        Rain is expected to help lower brushfire risk, but it will have a minor impact on the drought, officials say

        A total of 70 brushfires have been reported in Nassau and 306 in Suffolk since August.

        As News 12 has reported, there have been several brushfires across Long Island, including one in Freeport at Bishop Frank O. White Memorial Park on Parsons Avenue, reported on Nov. 11.
        According to the Nassau Chief Fire Marshal Michael Uttaro, there have been 70 reported brushfires in Nassau County since August.
        In Suffolk County, there have been 306 brushfires since Aug. 21.
