Fire destroys two popular Beach Haven businesses
A popular pizzeria in the Beach Haven section of Long Beach Island is vowing to rebuild after a fire gutted the shop Wednesday morning.
The fire broke out at about 7 a.m. on North Bay Avenue, according to the Beach Haven Volunteer Fire Company. While responding to the scene, the department said a deputy chief noticed a large column of smoke coming from the area and immediately requested mutual aid.
BLVD Pizza was fully engulfed in flames, which quickly spread to Sincerely June, an adjacent business.
“As most of you already know, our Beach Haven location caught fire this morning. I just wanna thank the community, friends, family and most of all our first responders,” the owner of BLVD Pizza said in a social media post. “It’ll be a long road, but we’ll come back stronger. All we can do is keep our heads up and keep moving.”
The owner said all employees were safe and that the Surf City location will remain open while repairs are made to the Beach Haven shop.
Sincerely June also posted on social media, saying none of its workers were injured in the fire.
“Not how we pictured this morning going, but everyone is safe and that’s all that matters,” the store said. “Thank you to everyone who has reached out to check on us and offer help. We are so grateful to be part of this community. The support across this island is unparalleled, and we don’t take it for granted. Another huge thank you to our emergency responders — fire, police and first aid — who are always there when we need them most.”
A GoFundMe page to help both businesses recover from the fire was organized by local businesses and has already raised more than $10,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
