Fire breaks out at tennis club in Hastings-on-Hudson
A fire at the Hastings Tennis Club Sunday morning drew a large response from multiple fire departments and left one firefighter hospitalized, according to Assistant Chief of the Hastings-on-Hudson Fire Department John Linder.
Fire crews were dispatched around 11:11 a.m. for a structure fire at the tennis club.
Firefighters from Hastings-on-Hudson, Dobbs Ferry, Irvington, Ardsley, Tarrytown and other neighboring departments responded to the scene.
The fire started in a shed that housed equipment used to heat and support the club's inflatable tennis bubble.
As the blaze intensified, the bubble began to melt and ultimately collapsed.
Chief Linder said the shed, where the main body of the fire was located, contained machinery that blows hot air into the bubble to keep it inflated.
One firefighter was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
The fire also caused exterior damage to a nearby building adjacent to the shed and tennis bubble.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation as of Sunday afternoon.
