        FDNY: Welding work caused Gravesend 3-alarm fire

        The New York City Emergency Management Office is encouraging people nearby to avoid the area and close their windows.

        The FDNY says welding work caused a Thursday afternoon three-alarm at a two-story home in Gravesend.
        The FDNY says it received a call about the fire at at East 4th Street and Kings Highway shortly after 3:15 p.m.
        About 138 fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene, according to officials.
        There were no reported injuries.
        The New York City Emergency Management Office encouraged people nearby to avoid the area and close their windows.
        Emergency Management also said East 4th Street was closed from Quentin Road to Kings Highway.
