        FDNY warns New Yorkers about dangers of space heaters

        The FDNY is warning New Yorkers about the dangers of space heaters.
        They say that more than one-third of all house fires happen during December, January and February - and that it's largely due to space heaters.
        News 12 spoke with a FDNY captain about what residents need to know to keep their homes safe.
        "I think a lot of people get caught up in just wanting the heat and don’t realize there’s a lot of things you want to look for when you are purchasing one of these," said Capt. Michael Kozo.
