The FBI is now involved in the hunt to find out more information on possible drone sightings in Morris County. Officials say there is no threat to public safety.
These reported drone sightings have been going on for several weeks.
The Federal Aviation Administration placed a Temporary Flight Restriction prohibiting drone flights over certain locations. That started on Nov. 18.
Trump National Golf Club Bedminster and Picatinny Arsenal Military Base are the two locations with TFRs. The FAA said they look into all reports of unauthorized drone operations.
"I saw three drones, one of them pretty substantial size. Probably the size of a small car," said Harding Twp resident, Jeff Sabol. "They have the blinking lights, they are back and forth sort of following 287."
The FBI, state police and NJ Office of Homeland Security are asking the public to report any info related to the recent possible drone sightings along the Raritan River. The FBI says witnesses have spotted the cluster of what looks to be drones and a possible fixed-wing aircraft.
"Everybody had been talking about it on Facebook. So my daughter and I went outside," said Succasunna resident Elizabeth Chirico. "We saw five of them. My sister-in-law lives in Somerset and she said she saw three."
"People chit-chat about everything, the drones, the weather," said Jim Psaras, owner of Alfa Bagels Deli in Randolph. "They come in to pass information, get information. It all starts with the best bagel in New Jersey."
So the hot debate in New Jersey right now, isn't about the best bagel spot or Taylor Ham vs Pork Roll, it's what is in the sky?
"I don't know, there's too much speculation out there," said Randolph resident Brandon Ashby. "I'm curious. I like that the FBI is involved now."
Officials ask anyone with information to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or submit a tip online.
