A 13-year-old boy was killed after being trapped under a farm tractor that overturned Monday afternoon.
“The preliminary investigation revealed that the juvenile was assisting a family member with digging a hole using the tractor,” Franklin Township police said in a statement.
According to police, the boy was riding on the tractor with an adult male at the time. Officers said that at some point, the tractor overturned and the boy became trapped underneath.
Police responded to the area at about 5:35 p.m. and immediately worked to lift the tractor off the child, who was found unconscious. Crews then began lifesaving measures before the boy was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said an adult male also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital.
The investigation is ongoing, and police said any potential criminal charges will be determined upon its conclusion.
