A family is demanding accountability after they said their 6-year-old son and grandson had his front teeth knocked out at Flatbush school not once, but twice. Tiffany Laporte said her grandson Noah is a bright boy who plays football. She said her family learned on April 28 that Noah's front two teeth were broken at his school, Explore Charter School in Flatbush. "We were shocked. If you can see the way that it was broken, it just looked unexplainable," Laporte said. The family said they got two different incident reports from Explore Charter School. The first report said he tripped on his shoelaces. The second report said his shoe laces were tied by other students, which caused him to fall. Noah had to have an emergency dental procedure to restore his smile. But then, not even two weeks later, the family received another phone call from the school. "The teeth that was just fixed, now one of them broke," Laporte said. "What happened? He was attacked by another student in school, in class, underneath the supervision of a teacher." Laporte's family learned that another student had kicked Noah in the mouth, and one of his front teeth had been broken again. "He was getting picked on," said Zhanya Mayers, mother of Noah. "The kid attacked him. I mean, he tried to defend himself...he lost teeth once again." Noah's family believes the school mishandled both incidents. They also believe there was a lack of supervision to ensure his safety and wellbeing. News 12 reached out to Explore Charter School, which said it cannot comment on the incident due to student privacy. The school, however, released a statement which says, "We take all incidents involving student safety extremely seriously. As with any incident involving injury to a student, we are following all necessary protocols to ensure that the incident is appropriately addressed and the family receives the support they need."
