People may not need to travel to New York to get their matinee theater fix, thanks to the Fairfield Theater Company. The theater company aims to bring Broadway to Fairfield, with its monthly mid-day matinee program.

Started last March, the program presents high-quality theater, concerts and more. February's performance featured Broadway actor James Canning and musician Elizabeth Lademan. The theater's artistic director Maureen Hamill says to keep the program growing they will be listening to their audience and bringing in a variety of topics beyond theater. "Our next show, which is very exciting, is about the Connecticut witch trials. And it's written by Connecticut playwrights. It's going to be an excellent show because it is about Connecticut and about true stories," she says.
