Fairfield parents will face new school policy changes beginning next year after actions by the Board of Education.

District officials say children must turn 5 years old by Sept. 1 to be eligible for kindergarten starting next school year. The Board of Education says the previous waiver allowing exceptions to the age requirement will no longer be available.

Meanwhile, Superintendent Michael Testani says the district is also examining changes to Chromebook use for middle school students.

Under the proposal, Chromebooks could remain at school when students do not need them for homework. District officials say the review is aimed at determining how devices are used both in and out of the classroom.
