A vendor received a hefty citation after police shut down an illegal nightclub in Bushwick on July 13.
He spoke exclusively to News 12 on Wednesday.
Scott, a college student and rising artist, says he was invited to showcase his clothing brand, "Human Error," at what was billed as an “S-List” event last Saturday.
But the night quickly unraveled when the NYPD raided the venue without warning.
“Everybody went from dancing, having a good time to just completely running for the exits,” Scott told News 12.
According to court documents, officers recovered psychedelic mushrooms, marijuana products, methamphetamine and other illegal substances inside the club.
The two men allegedly behind the event, Saimon Honlader, 28, and Milos Sokorac, 22, are both facing several charges, including criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth and seventh degrees, criminal sale of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, sale of alcohol without a license, among others.
Scott says he was wrongly cited for selling food without a permit and now faces up to $2,000 in fines, despite only running a licensed clothing pop-up at the event.
“I think it was a wrong place, wrong time situation for a lot of people involved,” he said. “But that doesn’t mean I should be paying thousands of dollars.”
Scott is due in court this September, just weeks after he’s set to leave for a study abroad program at the end of August.
