In just days, Long Islanders can do their grocery shopping at our area's very first Wegmans. The chain is just days away from its grand opening in Lake Grove this morning. We are getting an exclusive look inside of that store. News Cecilia Dowd is there now with everything we can look forward to, and there's been a lot of anticipation for this, Cecilia. A lot of anticipation right now I haven't even been around the whole story yet, but I can tell you this is definitely my favorite section. It's the cheese section. Check out this cheese wheel. This is a wheel. I mean, I am hungry just looking at this now here with me is Melissa assistant store manager. Thanks for joining us early this morning. Tell us about the cheeses uni your favorite section, but it's my favorite topic to talk about we have such great cheese selection. starts with partnering with great suppliers to provide the best products, but then we enhance it. So up in Rochester we have caves where we age the cheese. Some of them are washed rinds. We have a lot of easy entertaining solutions that we're really proud of. You'll see throughout the section that we have any accompaniments you might want, things of that nature, but really great quality cheese, anything you're looking for. Let's talk pairings and ready-made meals for those of us who don't always like to cook. We have easy entertaining solutions, as I had mentioned. So as you come through our store opening day and beyond, we'll always have cheese trays available in store. We have the solutions or pairings on the side whether you want Marcona almonds, delicious, I highly recommend, or fig jams, things of that nature. We have fresh produce over in our meat and seafood. We are ready to cook and ready to eat meals that are available. If you just want to go home from work, pop it in the oven and have a delicious ready to cook or ready to eat. OK, real quick, there are some real Wegmans fans out there. What did they say? They they affectionately refer to themselves as white maniacs, so sometimes they are opening and we have a lot of affection for them as well. So those ways will probably be here when the store opens. It opens Wednesday at 9 o'clock in the morning. A lot of anticipation. I have a friend. I won't name him who actually took the day off work to come to send it back to you.

Cecilia Dowd is in Lake Grove this morning with all of the excitement. Cecilia. Well, good morning. That's right, we are giving you the first look at this Wegmans in Lake Grove. Come on inside. This is something so many Long Islanders are looking forward to. I have so many friends who are excited to shop here, friends who actually when they go on vacation, go out of their way to put Wegmans on their itinerary because again there wasn't one on Long Island until now. Now take a look at this here here with us. Store manager Dan Cooper, welcome. Thanks for being with us so early. So good morning. Tell us how exciting is this. Oh my gosh, we are so excited. The team is really ramping up, getting everything prepared. We're excited for the community, but overall, everybody is super excited. So what makes Wegman stand out from other grocery stores? I would say it's 100% our people, our values. And taking care of our people and that incredible customer service that all of our people. I want to get to you employing obviously more long Islanders here, but first, what are your favorite products? Oh my gosh, there are so many. I would probably say ultimate chocolate chip cookies. Everybody has a little bit of a sweet tooth, maybe our marathon bread with cranberries, and I love some butter on it. Heard about the bread and just real quick, how many people are being employed here over 500 employees we have over 500 people here in Lake Grove. I'm reporting from the new Wegmans and we have to tell you it opens on Wednesday at 9 o'clock in the morning and we're told there's sure to be a line outside back to you guys. I'm sure there will belia looks like a great place to see more of this throughout the show today.

This saw Cecilia Dowd is in Lake Grove this morning with all of the excitement. Cecilia. I could have asked for a better assignment. I'm here at Wegmans every section looks better than the last one. Here with me is executive chef Nick can you tell us what you got here pizza sushi, so this is our total restaurant foods area, so we really focus on restaurant quality foods between sushi sub shop our bowls program, which is all ready. items with a base of rice, a full serving of proteins, things like that. You can really get anything across a lot of different cuisines. We also have our Wegman's meals to go, which allows you to get everything through pickup or delivery, which is really awesome. Do a lot of people use that? Absolutely, it's a fast moving business. We want to make sure that people can get meals at any time so you can get them. any specific time that you like, so New York is famous for its pizza. I'm a pizza lover. I want to know how is the Wegman's pizza. Yes, our pizza is really awesome. We have a full pizza shop where we have wings, appetizers, and a full range of pies, so it's really great food. Do you have personal favorites here in each section. We want to hear about that. Yeah, my personal favorite is our Dand Dan noodles, which is a ready to made bowl with A peanut sauce and ground pork with low Main style noodles. OK, that sounds good. Now guys, the store is opening Wednesday morning at 9. We are told there is likely to be a long line outside. The anticipation is growing and we are almost there. I know what a tourist and I can tell you I am so hungry they tell you not to go food shopping when you're hungry. Well, you maybe shouldn't have an early morning assignment inside a grocery store when you're hungry now. Yes, we are two days away from the opening of Wegmans and here with me is assistant store manager Iliana. Thank you for being here. So tell us what is it going to be like when people through those doors Wednesday morning. Oh, it's going to be really exciting customers. Our goal is for customers to have the whole experience. The second they parked in the parking lot, coming into the stores until they come through the registers, it's the whole experience of incredible customer service that Wekman's offers. Now there are a ton of different products and you and I were talking earlier about. Ice cream and pickles, yes, ice cream. The Wegman's chocolate almond ice cream, amazing. It's so creamy, it's amazing what it's, it's just the quality of the Wegman's products that I absolutely love and I can't wait to start shopping in the store too and also the pickles, the bread and butter pickle, amazing. I absolutely love our Wegman's pickles. I love pickles, so you said you. Yes, I do every time I go to Wes in New Jersey to visit when we visit family, I buy more than 5 just to make sure I have a home I can shop here. Who doesn't love pickles?
