They say all good things must come to an end.
After more than 50 years in Milford, this weekend is the last for the beloved Bridgeport Flyer Diner.
"I’m sad," Milford's Sarah Nierenberg says. "It's always been our go-to place."
Owner Dennis Kokenos says he's made the difficult decision to retire and spend more time with family.
“I'm going to miss the people and the workers," Kokenos says. "It's bittersweet. I'm going to miss this place."
Kokenos' grandfather originally opened the business in 1940 on Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport.
It came to Milford in 1973, and has been a community staple ever since.
“Coming here with my dad as a kid, coming after football games at the high school," Milford's Victoria Catandella says. "Definitely sad, but I’m happy Dennis will get to spend time with his grandkids."
Kokenos says he's been overwhelmed by the community's support.
"They made it a home." Kokenos says.
The restaurant will be open until Sunday night for its final weekend.
