The morning commute is expected to be disrupted after an electrical fire near New York Penn Station has impacted NJ Transit service.

Crews and the fire department remain on scene early Friday as response efforts continue.

NJ Transit says Midtown Direct service is being diverted to Hoboken Terminal. Rail tickets are being cross-honored on buses and PATH to help commuters get to their destinations.

Commuters were first notified of the issue around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

Delays and service changes remain in place as crews work at the scene.
