Eight hospitalized following two-vehicle crash on I-195 in Howell Township
A morning commute collision on Interstate 195 sent eight people to a local hospital on Wednesday morning.
State Troopers responded to the multi-vehicle crash at approximately 8:41 a.m. on I-195 West near milepost 31.4 in Howell Township.
According to a preliminary investigation, the incident involved a collision between a Mazda SUV and a Honda minivan. The impact forced an emergency response from local medical crews to treat the multiple occupants inside the van.
Authorities stated that the driver of the Honda van, along with seven passengers, sustained minor injuries in the crash. All eight individuals were stabilized at the scene and transported to an area hospital for further evaluation. No other injuries were reported from the scene or the occupants of the Mazda SUV.
The crash caused temporary traffic disruptions on the westbound side of the interstate while emergency vehicles blocked the area to assist the victims and clear the wreckage.
The exact cause of the collision remains under active investigation by the New Jersey State Police. No additional details regarding the identities of those involved have been released.
