A jury sentenced an East Quogue man to life without the possibility of parole on Thursday for killing his friend.
Jeremy Allen, 44, was found guilty of torturing his friend for six hours and his friend's ensuing death.
Surveillance from Allen’s home recorded him beating Christopher Hahn, 43, with a baseball bat, suffocating him and stabbing him in the neck 10 times.
The two had been friends since high school, prosecutors said.
During the torture, prosecutors said that Allen sat on a lawn chair for eight minutes a few feet away from Hahn while Hahn struggled to breathe with a plastic bag tied with a loose knot around his neck.
After Hahn's final breath, Allen contacted his handyman to help him clean up the blood and the scene. Allen told the handyman he was not allowed to leave after what he saw, but the handyman was able to convince Allen to let him go.
Once persuaded, the handyman called the police and told them what he saw.
Allen was also found guilty of tampering with physical evidence.
