A fast‑moving fire early Monday morning destroyed a home after flames spread through the entire structure in New City.
Firefighters were called just after 3 a.m. to a house on Badger Street.
The first officer on scene lived nearby and quickly called in a working fire.
The home was checked for occupants, and officials said the homeowners had already self‑evacuated.
Crews from New City, West Nyack and Hillcrest responded and went to work containing the blaze.
Fire officials said the fire appeared to start at the front of the house. Flames then spread throughout the structure .“It was fully involved when we got here,” said Glenn Dietrich, second assistant fire chief with the New City Fire Department.
“We got water on the fire pretty quick,” he said.
Dietrich said the first priority was confirming everyone was out of the home.
Firefighters were able to access a nearby hydrant and begin suppression immediately.
The investigation will be handled by Clarkstown police and the Clarkstown Fire Inspection Office.
