Early voting is officially underway in New York, and Long Islanders wasted no time heading to the polls.
A long line formed at the Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center in Bethpage around 9:30 a.m. as voters lined up to cast their ballots.
Some voters said they chose to vote on the first day of early voting because their work schedules could make it difficult to get to the polls on Election Day.
“A lot of people have errands. A lot of people have work. When people come out of work, they are exhausted to get out and vote,” said Jack Butler of Seaford.
Early voting continues through Sunday, Nov. 1. Polls are open until 6 p.m. tonight.
