Several Trains on the Metro-North New Haven line are being cancelled this morning after downed overhead wires near Southport.
Metro-North is advising customers to check their
website for delays and cancellations.
This is after a downed power line disrupted Metro-North New Haven Line service Thursday evening, halting multiple trains between Southport and Fairfield, according to the MTA.
At one point Thursday, train service between New Haven and New York was suspended.
Fairfield fire officials reported receiving a call just before 5 p.m. for downed wires near Post Road in Southport.
Officials say two trains carrying approximately 1,100 passengers stranded on the tracks were safely evacuated, with passengers transported to Green's Farms Station.
Officials also said power was restored to an Amtrak train on the route to New York City.
